🇪🇹 1. ETHIOPIA AND ERITREA CUT DIPLOMATIC TIES

Ethiopia closed its embassy in Asmara and expelled ten Eritrean diplomats, accusing its neighbour of hostility and backing rebels in the north. Eritrea responded by severing all diplomatic ties, while Egypt and Ethiopia also traded diplomat expulsions.

🇨🇩 2. CONGO'S EBOLA DEATH TOLL PASSES 4,000
Congo's Health Ministry reported 4,018 deaths among 8,300 cases since the outbreak was declared in May, the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record. The WHO warns it is on track to exceed West Africa's 2014–2016 epidemic.

🇿🇲 4. ZAMBIA DELIVERS SHOCK 250-POINT RATE CUT
The Bank of Zambia cut its policy rate to 10.75% from 13.25%, its biggest cut in more than a decade, versus a 25-basis-point cut expected. Inflation slowed to 6.1%, its lowest since 2018, as talks with the IMF on a new programme continue.

🇳🇬 7. DANGOTE REFINERY IPO ENTERS FINAL STRETCH
